Steam Power

Steam power refers to a class of technologies which make use of steam to generate mechanical power. This usually involves either boiling water or siphoning steam directly from a bukhari river, and then allowing the steam to exert pressure on a piston before being vented out.

Steam power is used for industrial purposes, as well as being the key power source behind ironsides, warforged, and steam locomotives. Steam cannons, though they make use steam to create propulsion, are not generally considered an instance of steam power.

History

Rudimentary forms of steam power emerged in the Sita'arlan Colonies beginning in 171 LE, at first using steam siphoned from where bukhari rivers opened in steam vents. As more reliable sources of steam were needed, the technology pivoted to the use of boilers.

Following the Second Sita'arlan Crusade, steam engines and associated technologies began popping up in several places within the Imperial States. Most notably, they were imported to Konistova Lisa in 189 LE, where they became a major part of industrialisation.
